The “Y

Something’s been missing from our fytness journeys, and it’s not just consistency, discipline, or even diet (or variety, intensity, knowledge…). Those are all huge variables but are also mostly symptoms. What’s the cause?

Not connecting to our “Y”.

Why we want our bodies to perform. Our motivation for training at all. Yes, we want to be fit and healthy (and maybe for some that’s enough). But many of us have passions awaiting us beyond the gym:

We want to play. Sports, competitions, weekend trips. exotic adventures. And - perhaps - kids. For many years to come.

IT’S JUST ALL DISCONNECTED:

  1. Our training is generic while our play is specific.

  2. It’s hard to make time for the activities that make us feel most alive.

  3. And then do we have anyone to do it with? Friends that share our passions and make our adventures that much more fulfilling?

(Training + Adventure) x Community = TRYBE

Trybe connects 1) how we train to 2) what we want to play to 3) a team of others like us. And it does it by solving the gaps in our fytness journeys today:

  1. TRAINING INTENTION. You do an assortment of things at the gym: jump on some cardio machine, lift a few dumbbells, crank some sittups. To what end? Your training isn’t intended for the demands you’ll place on your body when you play. Pickup soccer, running a mud run, and shredding some fresh pow place different stresses on our bodies, so we need our work in the gym to adapt to the movements needed outside of it. Intention. What you do, why you do it, and how you do it properly. Without it, whatever you do is AT BEST inefficient, MOST LIKELY ineffective, and POTENTIALLY detrimental/unsafe.

  2. TRAINING ACCESSIBILITY. But the knowledge of how to train specifically - to move and build strength through the functional requirements of our play - isn’t readily accessible. If you’re not a competitive/elite athlete with built-in coaching, where do you turn. Navigating the sea of influencers and fad exercises is exhausting and confusing. It shouldn’t have to be this way. The majority of us are weekend warriors, rec league try-hards, and outdoor enthusiasts, and we DESERVE access to training that helps us do what we love to do, more and better.

  3. THE PLAY ITSELF. Access to your favorite activities isn’t so accessible either. You’re long past your schoolyard glory days, there are minimal after-work sports, and finding the time - then following through - isn’t so simple with all of that adulting holding your calendar hostage. You might solve all that and then…where do you even find a pickup game? It seems like the first thing we sacrifice when life throws more at us is what fuels our passions: the play.

  4. YOUR TRYBE. In the age of remote, we’re a lot more distant from our friends than we used to be. And when together, do they even want to play with the same toys? In this age, and at our ages, we’re missing an active social circle, a community of like-minded people that share our passions, mindset, and drive to continue seeking active lives. We need a team - a TRYBE - to build camaraderie, push each other to our goals, and go enjoy the spoils of our labor. Together.

This is the “Y” in Trybe.

Fytness for our Experiences. Experiences with our Trybe.
